Baldelli headed to Durham
Word from Port Charlotte tonight is that OF/DH Rocco Baldelli is taking his comeback attempt to Triple-A Durham.
Baldelli hit .283 for the Class A Stone Crabs in 12 games, and finished strong, going 3-for-4 on Thursday, and drawing his first walk. He also played in back-to-back games for the first time. He was 13-for-46 with four doubles.
Baldelli, 28, spent the spring and first 3 1/2 months of the season working as a special assistant minor-league coach for the Rays, and rehabbing a sore shoulder, before heading back on the field. Baldelli likely won't join the Bulls until after the weekend. If all goes well, he could rejoin the Rays for the stretch run as a right-handed DH, pinch-hitter and reserve outfielder.
