Bench coach Martinez to interview with Jays

As expected, the Jays have asked for - and the Rays have granted - permisison to interview bench coach Dave Martinez for their vacant managerial job.

Martinez, 46, played 16 seasons in the big leagues. He has been on the Rays' coaching staff fulltime since 2008, after serving as a spring instructor the previous two years. He has no manangerial experience, except for spring training and games in which Joe Maddon was ejected.
