Bill James: Rays No. 1 in MLB in young talent
Bill James recently released his third annual "Young Talent Inventory," which ranks all 30 MLB teams in young talent, and the Tampa Bay Rays were tabbed No. 1.
To come up with the rankings, James assigns a value to each player, based on their age and major league performance. Values were also given to the top 50 prospects in baseball.
Here are the top-10 teams in young talent, with the previous year's ranking in parentheses.
Tampa Bay Rays (3)
Colorado Rockies (8)
Minnesota Twins (1)
Arizona Diamondbacks (2)
Boston Red Sox (10)
San Francisco Giants (22)
New York Yankees (29)
Texas Rangers (19)
Chicago White Sox (25)
