Burrell designated for assignment; Hank Blalock selected from Triple-A Durham
The Rays have designated DH Pat Burrell for assignment, and selected Hank Blalock from Triple-A Durham.
Burrell, who signed a two-year, $16 million deal before last season, had been a disappointment, with his struggles continuing this season (hitting .202). Blalock is expected to be here at the Trop around gametime.
