Choate in talks with Marlins, Rays remain "in the mix"

Another player could be close to leaving the Rays.
Reliever Randy Choate on Sunday night confirmed a report that he's in talks with the Marlins. Chote said the Rays remain "in the mix" along with three other teams he declined to name.
If Choate joins Joaquin Benoit, Carl Crawford and Carlos Pena in sigining elsewhere, the Rays will get another compensation-round pick in the 2011 draft. They have already picked up two others, plus Boston's first-round pick.
There continues to be no update from the Rays on the potential trade of Jason Bartlett to the Padres. The San Diego Union Tribune reported Friday the holdup had to do with the physical condition of one of the two relievers who where supposed to be headed to the Rays, Adam Russell and Cesar Ramos.
