Cobb leaves game with bruised leg
Update 11:36 p.m. Both Cobb and manager Joe Maddon say they expect the rookie to make his next start, helped with an extra off-day.
Cobb said he felt "very fortunate" that he didn't suffer a fracture, with Suzuki's second-inning grounder hitting him right between the tibia and fibula.
"It could have been a lot worse," Cobb said.
Developing: RHP Alex Cobb was knocked out of Saturday's game after taking a ball of his right shin hit by Ichiro Suzuki in the second inning.
The Rays said x-rays were negative and Cobb has only a bruise.
Cobb made the play on the ball after it struck his leg, getting the final out of the inning at home plate.
But he was in obvious pain as he tried to get up and had to be helped off the field.
Cobb was off to a rough start, throwing 52 pitches to get six outs.
LHP Cesar Ramos, called up earlier Saturday to add a fresh arm to the bullpen, took over.
