Cobb optioned, reliever (Gomes?) on way
As planned, the Rays optioned RHP Alex Cobb back to Triple-A Durham after the game, and plan to call up a reliever in time for their next game on Tuesday.
RHP Brandon Gomes would appear to be the top candidate, with six saves in six opportunities and a 1.35 ERA in 11 games at Durham.
The Rays are also planning to reinstate 3B Evan Longoria from the DL on Tuesday, with veteran INF Felipe Lopez expected to go to make room.
