Cobb returns after surgery with souvenir

Rookie RHP Alex Cobb was back in the clubhouse today and said that - after a nasty bout with pancreatitis - the surgery to remove his top right rib and the clot in his subclavian vein went as well as it could have.

Also, that at his father's suggestion he kept the rib as a souvenir and has it in a jar at home with the thought that he may put it in his locker next season as a good luck charm.

Cobb said he could have resumed throwing by the end of the season but will follow the more conservative course laid out by the Rays and plan on being 100 percent for the start of the team's throwing program in January.
