Crawford named AL Player of the Week
Rays LF Carl Crawford was named AL Player of the Week after hitting .429 in six interleague games.
Crawford scored a major-league high matching nine runs, had seven walks, two triples, a homer, three RBI and three steals, with an .810 slugging percentage and .571 on-base percentage.
Also, Crawford and 3B Evan Longoria remain in position to be elected starters for the July 13 All-Star Game. Crawford (with 1,445,615 votes) ranks second behind Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki (1,567,788) and just ahead of Texas' Josh Hamilton (1,431,013) and Nelson Cruz (1,377,399) - with three outfielders elected - while Longoria has a large lead over the Yankees Alex Rodriguez, 2,534,967 to 1,571,831.
Among other Rays, Jason Bartlett is fourth at shortstop and Carlos Pena and Ben Zobrist fifth at first and second.
