Ex-Ray Crawford has surgery, likely to miss games
Former Rays star Carl Crawford underwent surgery on his left wrist and is likely to miss at least the opening of the Red Sox season.
The Sox are saying Crawford is expected to be recovered to play "the bulk" of the season. "We expect him to be hitting at some point during Spring Training and then expect him to be in position to return to play at some point very early in the season," GM Ben Cherington told reporters.
The Rays visit the Red Sox for a four-game series the second weekend of the season.
