Ex-Ray Toby Hall headed to Texas
Former Rays catcher Toby Hall is headed to Texas, agreeing to a minor-league deal with the Rangers that should gave him a solid chance to compete for playing time with the big-league team.
Hall, 34, signed with the Astros last year but missed the whole season due to a shoulder injury. He played for the Rays from 2000-2006, was traded to the Dodgers in June 2006 then spent 2007-2008 as the backup for the White Sox.
Among other Rays still looking for work are free agents OF Jonny Gomes (reportedly talking to the Cubs), OF Rocco Baldelli (interest from Yankees and Cubs among others), and RHP Seth McClung.
