Ex-Ray Toby Hall signs with independent league team

Former Rays catcher Toby Hall is back in baseball.

Hall has signed with the Camden (N.J.) Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League, where he will be joined by another former Ray, RHP Jason Johnson. Both had been working out in St. Petersburg, the former Naimoli complex that was used by the Rays, and Hall's comeback bid was featured in a recent Times article.

Hall, 35, last played in the majors in 2008, battling the shoulder problems the last two years as he signed with the Astros and Rangers but could not play.
