February

RHP Joe Nelson, who signed with the Rays last season but ended up at Triple-A Durham, agreed to a minor-league deal with the Red Sox. Nelson will compete for a job in the Boston bullpen with, among others, former Ray Brian Shouse. Nelson was 3-0, 4.02 in 42 games for the Rays, but walked 27.

RHP Seth McClung, a former Rays prospect traded to Milwaukee in July 2007 for Grant Balfour, agreed to a minor-league deal with the Marlins. McClung was non-tendered by the Brewers after going 3-3, 4.94 in 41 games.

Also, former Rays OF Gabe Gross finalized a one-year, $750,000 deal with the A's.
