The now- 16-year-old is the daughter of former Rays TV analyst Joe Magrane, and has performed the anthem at the Trop several times. She is also a sophomore in the arts and drama program at Tampa’s Blake High, and a former volleyball player.
On Wednesday’s show Shannon was introduced to judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson and when she mentioned that her dad was a former pitcher, they said she could bring him out. After the introductions, Joe, mom Renee, and six friends and relatives stayed on the stage as Shannon delivered a soulful rendition of the Etta James song Something’s Got a Hold of Me, and was a unanimous choice to advance on to the Hollywood round.
“She’s an incredibly gifted singer,’’ Joe said Wednesday night. “Between my wife’s yelling and my announcing, we created a super hybrid.’’
