FanFest is today; Port Charlotte open house Feb. 23
The Rays are back at the Trop for Saturday's FanFest, with doors open from 10-5 and admission and parking free. Virtually all players, coaches and manager Joe Maddon will be there. Autographs are free to kids 14 and under and season-ticket holders; others have to make a $10 donation to the team's charitable foundation for access to the autograph area. Some players only will be posing for pictures with season-ticket holders rather than signing. There are kids activities and clubhouse tours, displays including the AL Championship trophy, appearances by the radio and TV crews plus former big-leaguer Buck Martinez, fan wall of fame inductions, and special ticket packages and merchandise offers. Click here for more details and the autograph schedule, with the first session at noon.
And NEXT Monday - Feb. 23 - there will be an open house at the new Port Charlotte facility. Fans will be allowed to tour the ballpark, including the outfield boardwalk, and watch the squad work out and take batting practice on the stadium field. The team mascot and street team will be on hand. After the ribbon cutting for the team store, there will be an autograph session with some players. Admission and parking are free; concessions will be sold.
