The Rays farm system was ranked second in the majors by ESPN's Keith Law, in an Insider-only column.

Law, who bases his rankings on the current status of prospects (and who have not lost their rookie eligibility), has the Padres first, with the Jays third, Cardinals fourth and Royals fifth.

He says the Rays could be No. 1 based on the ceiling of their prospects, but also cites a pending gap in their prospect pipeline that would have to be filled by their 2011 draft picks advancing.
