Farnsworth feeling better, eyeing return in New York
UPDATE, 6:35: Farnsworth made 25 throws with a ball in a sock and it went well according to the Rays.
DEVELOPING: Closer Kyle Farnsworth said his tender right elbow has improved enough that he was going to get to play "some sort of catch" today - possibly with a ball in a sock - and if all goes well is eyeing a return by the end of next week's series in New York.
"It's a step, so hopefully that goes well and we can something again tomorrow real life,'' Farnsworth said.
Farnsworth said he was excited that he would be allowed to even pick up a ball, and hoped to progress to playing catch unrestricted by Sunday in Boston, then throw off the mound Tuesday in New York. If all goes well, he could be available by Thursday's series finale at Yankee Stadium.
Farnsworth hasn't thrown since Saturday's game when he blew the save.
