Farnsworth has "little bit of a setback," but likely available Monday
RHP Kyle Farnsworth has had "a little bit of a setback" with his right elbow, but the Rays expect him to be available, if needed, on Monday, manager Joe Maddon said.
"I'm kind of encouraged for tomorrow,'' Maddon said. Farnsworth, however, would not have been able to pitch if needed on Saturday.
Farnsworth returned to action Sept. 24 after sitting out two weeks due to tenderness in his right elbow, then pitched four of the next five days, including the last three regular season games.
"He was doing well but then we used him so many days in a row I think that kind of put him back a little bit,'' Maddon said. "But he's doing well, he said he felt really good yesterday. He said he keeps feeling better. As we continue to move this forward, I just have to be careful with him, that's all.''
If Farnsworth weren't available to pitch the ninth, the Rays could use Joel Peralta or converted starter Wade Davis.
