Francisco takes minor-league deal with Indians

OF Ben Francisco seemed more like a fall-back, Plan C or D for the Rays this season anyway, and that option went away when he agreed to a minor-league deal with the Indians that was announced Monday.

Francisco, 31, was acquired by the Rays from Houston on Aug. 31 to provide a right-handed outfield option and hit .228 with two homers, eight RBIs and a .691 OPS in 24 games for the Rays.

The Indians also agreed to terms with INF/OF Ryan Raburn, the Durant High product who was let go by Detroit after a rough season.
