Fuld to have wrist surgery, out 4-5 months
The Tampa Bay Rays announced that outfielder Sam Fuld will undergo surgery on his right wrist Tuesday, and that he's expected to be out 4-5 months.
Fuld's wrist has bothered him since he sprained it last September, but after an offseason of rest, he thought it could get better. He re-aggravated it during a swing on a Mar. 23 game against the Blue Jays, undergoing an MRI the following Monday. Fuld sought out a second opinion in Cleveland.
With Fuld and CF B.J. Upton going to start the year on the disabled list, it looks like OF Jeff Salazar has a chance to make the team for Opening Day, unless the Rays make another move.
