Fuld on TV tonight, Herrera back on radio
Rays OF Sam Fuld will be featured on MLB Network's Hot Stove show at 6 tonight, the segment focusing on what it's like for him to play with diabetes.
In the piece, filmed during the camp he hosted last weekend at USF, Fuld talks about the challenges and frustrations he faces, and says: "I check myself 4 or 5 times just within a game and when I’m playing I’ll be out in the outfield and half the time I’ll be worrying about who’s hitting, what the count is and half the time I’m worried about what my blood sugar’s at.''
Teammate Matt Joyce shows his admiration, saying: "To see what he goes through on a daily basis and then to see him just make these unbelievable catches that are out of this world, you really start to think this guy is Superman. ... I told him he’s an absolute inspiration to a lot of people out there and even to us as his teammates.''
Also, former Rays radio pre- and post-game host Rich Herrera has been hired by SiriusXM’s MLB Network Radio channel to host the MLB Roundtrip show on Saturday nights during the regular season. Herrera, who left the Rays after last season and was replaced by Neil Solondz, will also fill-in on other MLB Network Radio shows.
