Gameday live: Rays at Phillies

7

March

4:36: Rays win 5-3 in 10, that's four in a row.

4:29: Rays open 10th with five straight hits take a 5-3 lead. 4:20: Game is in extra innings, media is in clubhouse waiting for the outcome.

3:52: Nice throw by Justin Ruggiano - who's having a big spring so far - to throw out Dominic Brown at the plate for final out of the 8th, preserving the tie.

3:50: Phillies rallied off Heath Phillips in the 8th and tied it 3-3.

3:48: Crowd of 10,474 was a Phillies Clearwater spring training record.

3:29: The Rays took a 3-1 lead in the sixth when Kelly Shoppach hit a two-run homer and Reid Brignac doubled in Tim Beckham, who was pinch-running for Dioner Navarro, who had three hits.

2:47: Benoit recovered nicely, retiring Placido Polanco on a pop out, striking out Chase Utley and getting Ryan Howard on a fly to left - caught by Pat Burrell.

2:41: Jimmy Rollins greeted Rays RHP Joaquin Benoit by driving a 1-1 pitch over the right-centerfield wall.

2:35: Rays had a man on second with one out in the fifth, but couldn't get him home. They had a chance to score in the fourth but Dioner Navarro was thrown out - rather easily - at the plate trying to score from second on Elliot Johnson's single.

2:21: Shields - who hasn't been announced as the opening day starter only because Maddon (admittedly) hasn't gotten around to making it official - went 2 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and two walks.

2:06: James Shields' day is done, having allowed three hits and leaving with two outs in the third.

1:57: Prime situation for Pat Burrell, returning to Clearwater, getting a nice cheer from the Phillies crowd, bases loaded, one out, up 3-1 in the count against 21-year-old Phillippe Aumont ... and he fouls one off and then grounds into a double play.

1:50: That's it for Phillies starter J.A. Happ as the Rays have two on, as Reid Brignac singled and Sean Rodriguez walked.

1:42: The Phillies loaded the bases in the second, but James Shields struck out Jimmy Rollins for the third out. It's 0-0 going to the top of the 3rd.

1:16:
First change of the day, Burrell went to leftfield and Matt Joyce to right.

1:10: Underway on beautifully sunny day at one of the best spring facilities around, Bright House Field.
