Gameday live: Rays at Red Sox

5:13: Rays just confirmed the seven-game winning streak is a team spring record. They won six straight (around a tie) in 2008.

4:30: Rays win 8-6.

4:16: Rays still leading 8-6 going to the ninth seeking their seventh straight win.

3:40: Just talked to several of the players who were on the field when Price was hit and they all were scared and feared the worst. "I looked up and saw he was down and I thought, Oh no," '' B.J. Upton said. ... Rays scored a run in the fifth on a Justin Ruggiano single and lead 8-6 in the sixth.

3:11: It took two hours to play four long innings here, with Rays leading 7-6. Ex-Ray Brian Shouse pitching for Boston.

2:53: Rays pushed the lead to 7-4, but Joaquin Benoit just gave up a two-run homer to Ellsbury, making it 7-6.

2:38: Meanwhile, Rays are rolling in the fourth inning here, scoring five runs before their first out to take a 6-4 lead.

2:09: More injury news - top OF prospect Desmond Jennings has a left wrist sprain that must be pretty severe as the Rays say he will be in a splint for 5-7 days, but is expected to be ready for the start of the (minor-league) season.

: Rays say Price has an abrasion on his right hand near the base of his thumb. He was bleeding but it does not appear he will need stitches.

1:36: David Price had to leave the game after being struck on the right hand by a piece of Adrian Beltre's broken bat in the second inning. Price left with his right hand wrapped in a towel under the care of assistant trainer Paul Harker Nick Paparesta. It was not clear if he was bleeding. Joe Bateman relieved him.

1:23: David Price was very sharp in the first inning, retiring Jacoby Ellsbury on a fly out, Dustin Pedroia looking at strike three and Victor Martinez on a foul pop.

1:15: The Rays keep creating runs, this time with Jason Bartlett walking, stealing second, going to third on an errant throw and then scoring when Adrian Beltre bounced his throw on Pat Burrell's grounder. Rays lead 1-0.
