The Rays beat the Twins 5-3 at Charlotte Sports Park. Left-hander David Price had a strong outing, giving up just three runs over six innings. B.J. Upton had two RBI and Reid Brignac knocked in the go ahead run in the bottom of the seventh.

Update 3:01:
Bullpen candidate RHP Mike Ekstrom finished his second scoreless inning, and the Rays carry a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the eighth.

Update 3:01: Reid Brignac stepped up in the bottom of the seventh and hit an RBI single to right, scoring Nevin Ashley to give the Rays the lead back. They added another run to make it 5-3.

Rays 5, Twins 3

Update 2:46: LHP David Price's outing was going extremely well - just one run through six - but he gave up a two-run homer to Delmon Young in the seventh, his last pitch of the game.

Price was relieved by RHP Mike Ekstrom, who is a candidate for the final bullpen spot.

Update 2:28: LHP David Price has looked much better in this outing vs. the Twins, giving up just one run and five hits through five.

He's come out here again for the sixth.

Update 2:15: The Rays added on another run in the fourth off LHP Francisco Liriano, with C Nevin Ashley hitting an RBI single up the middle.

That scored 3B Sean Rodriguez, who had doubled for the second time in the game.

Rays 3, Twins 1 (top fifth)

Update 2:00: B.J. Upton just picked up another two-out RBI, ripping a double to left center to score Ben Zobrist.

The inning had looked over, but when Zobrist got picked off first, Twins 1B Justin Morneau made an errant throw into left-center, keeping the rally alive.

Update 1:43: The Twins tied it up in the second, with Jason Kubel hitting a solo homer off LHP David Price.

Update 1:30: The Rays strike first, with Carl Crawford and Ben Zobrist hitting back-to-back singles. CF B.J. Upton came through with a two-out, RBI single (for the second straight day), giving the Rays a 1-0 lead.

Update 1:24: David Price got out of the first inning unscathed, despite allowing a double to Twins C Joe Mauer. He got some help early,  with a strikeout turning into a double play when C Nevin Ashley threw out Denard Span trying to steal second.

We're live in Port Charlotte, where the Rays will host the Twins.

LHP David Price is on the mound, trying to bounce back from his last outing - also against the Twins - when he gave up 11 hits and five runs. Sean Rodriguez starts at third again.
