Gameday report: Rays at Jays

Update 12:17 p.m.: Not much news in manager Joe Maddon's pre-game media session. There was a small tid-bit on how manager Joe Maddon will handle the catching situation this season; he has said he plans to plan ahead before each week and each series, splitting time for Kelly Shoppach and Dioner Navarro based on a lot of things, including how they match up against certain pitchers.

But Maddon said today he will also consider matching up the catchers with a particular pitcher, if they do end up working specifically well together.

And here's the Jays lineup

Bautista 3b
Hill  2b
Reed lf
Overbay 1b
Lubanski rf
McDade dh
Gonzalez ss
Chavez dh
Gathright cf
Marcum p

Developing: The Rays will face the Jays here today in Dunedin, with right-hander Wade Davis making his first start since getting named the team's fifth starter.

Manager Joe Maddon said he expects a more relaxed Davis, with all the uncertainty surrounding him gone. There's also a chance to get more looks at 1B Hank Blalock, who has made quite an impression with his approach at the plate, and could be in line to earn a roster spot (thanks to Willy Aybar's hamstring strain).

Here is today's lineup:
Bartlett ss
Crawford lf
Kapler cf
Longoria 3b
Upton dh
Shoppach c
Rodriguez 2b
Blalock  1b
Johnson rf
Davis p
