Gameday report: Rays at Red Sox

Update 5:38 p.m. While it appears INF Willy Aybar will be ready for Opening Day, manager Joe Maddon said today that OF Matt Joyce more than likely won't be.

Joyce, who has an elbow strain, has still yet to throw to the bases, and while he's on pace for around 90 at-bats, he's not progressing as quickly as he'd like arm-wise. "I'm not highly optimistic at this point he's going to be ready for the season, but we're still holding out," Maddon said.

*Maddon said C Dioner Navarro (bruised nerve left shin) came through today's minor league game well, and will catch Tuesday's game against the Red Sox (about five innings). C Kelly Shoppach will catch LHP David Price in the minor league game.

Developing: The Rays will travel to Fort Myers today for a night game against the Red Sox, and will be bringing several regulars - including Jason Bartlett, Carl Crawford and Evan Longoria.

Willy Aybar, who has been battling a hamstring strain, will DH, with the Rays getting another look at Hank Blalock at first base.
