Gold for Rays today?
The Rays will find out this afternoon if they have the golden touch for a third straight season.
The AL Gold Glove awards, voted by the league managers and coaches, will be announced at 3:30, with 3B Evan Longoria a favorite for a second straight and free-agent OF Carl Crawford in line for his first.
Longoria’s biggest competition appears to be Boston free-agent Adrian Beltre; Longoria made 14 errors, Beltre 19.
Crawford faces a tougher field as three outfielders are chosen regardless of position; last year’s winners were Los Angeles’ Torii Hunter and Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki (their ninth each) and Baltimore’s Adam Jones.
Rays 1B Carlos Pena won the organization's first Gold Glove in 2008.
