Happy trails ....

The Rays were happy to leave Colorado with their first victory since Tuesday (and their first at Coors Field in six tries).

RF Jonny Gomes continues to make a solid impression on manager Joe Maddon, hitting two homers Sunday and going 8-for-14 in his first four games back from the minors, and will be in the lineup again on Monday in Arizona.

Elijah Dukes has been used twice as an early-game pinch-hitter for the pitcher, his only action since taking a "personal day" off Wednesday following the latest report of off-field controversy.

It will be interesting to see when and if he starts again, and if the Rays do something with him (trade, release, restricted list, etc.) when Rocco Baldelli returns from the disabled list as expected on Friday. Dukes' average is down to .191.

The heat will be brutal in Arizona - forecast high of 107 - but hopefully the retractable roof on Chase Field will be locked shut and the AC on high.
