Howell, Rodney catch Maddon's eye
The Rays went through the second day of pitcher/catcher workouts with an impressive display of arms in the bullpen, as David Price, Matt Moore, James Shields and Wade Davis all threw.
The two pitchers who caught the eye of manager Joe Maddon were relievers J.P. Howell and Fernando Rodney.
Howell looked sharper, stronger and more confident than last season, when he was coming back from shoulder surgery. Rodney, a free agent acquisition, could play a key role in the pen.
There was also some levity, as Price took a "victory lap" with the trophy he won for displacing former teammate Kelly Shoppach as the champion of their fantasy football league.
The Rays are on the field at 9:30 again on Thursday.
