Jennings, Baldelli, Hellickson, Navarro, Hawpe on the way

UPDATE, 6:36: LHP J.P. Howell has already been shifted from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list, so that will open one of the two spots on the 40-man roster the Rays need (for Baldelli and Hawpe). The other could involve dropping one of the current players, or maybe there's some more creativity coming. Lobaton expected to stay on the 15-day DL for now.

DEVELOPING: The Rays plans for the Wednesday's roster expansion are to add OF Desmond Jennings, OF/DH Rocco Baldelli, C Dioner Navarro, RHP Jeremy Hellickson and OF Brad Hawpe.

They are also expected to bring up C Jose Lobaton, though he is likely headed to the DL, which will create additional roster flexibility at the end of the season.

The moves will address the Rays need for some extra bats (Hawpe, Baldelli)  a third catcher (Navarro), a pinch-runner (Jennings) and an extra bullpen arm (Hellickson). They will add another soon, if not Wednesday, when RHP Grant Balfour comes off the DL. The one area they are not yet addressing is adding another lefty reliever, with Jake McGee and Brian Shouse the top options.

Hawpe and Baldelli have to be added to the 40-man roster, so the Rays have to make two corresponding moves before Wednesday's game. Moving J.P. Howell from the 15- to the 60-day DL could create one spot.
