Joyce expected back within 2 weeks, Longoria eventually, Fuld sooner

The Rays are "confident" 3B Evan Longoria will be back this season, but have not been able to put an exact time frame on his return due to the nature of his injury, a partially torn hamstring, executive VP Andrew Friedman said today.

OF Matt Joyce said he "feels great" and expects to rejoin the team within two weeks. He will work out with the Rays for the next few days, then hopes to go on a rehab assignment after that. He was sidleined originally with a mild oblique strain in mid-June, then was set back when he had a lower back strain.

OF Sam Fuld, on a rehab assignment to complete recovery from spring surgery on his right wrist, is doing well and is likely to be the first one back.

RHP Jeff Niemann, whose right leg was broken by a batted ball is May, is on track for an August return.

C Robinson Chirinos, who has been out since sustaining a concussion in spring training, is unlikely to return this season.
