Veteran LF Johnny Damon reported to camp this morning said he was excited not only to be with the Rays but looking forward to contributing.
"It feels great,'' Damon said. "This has been something I've wanted to do for a long time.''
Damon, 37, said he was excited about the opportunity to win with the Rays. "Hopefully we can go out there and play well this year,'' he said. "A lot of people aren't counting on us but when you have guys like Manny and I here who know how to win, who have been in this situation before, yea, we have something to prove.''
Also reporting this morning was non-roster 1B Casey Kotchman, the former Seminole High star trying to win a job with his hometown team. All but four position players have now reported in advance of Monday's first full-squad workout - Elliot Johnson, Ben Zobrist and non-roster INFs Ray Olmedo and Daniel Mayora.
