Live from Port Charlotte: Foggy start
UPDATE, 10:51: The fog burned off and it's again bright and sunny, with the players working on first-and-third situations before the start of live BP.
A couple of further notes:
* Ben Zobrist worked some at first base today during infield drills, along with Dan Johnson and Casey Kotchman.
* RHP Albert Suarez, a 21-year-old prospect who was added to the 40-man roster, has been sidelined with a bruised knee.
* There will be a "controlled scrimmage" intrasquad game on Friday morning, as the Rays have an abbreviated workout day due to the team golf tournament.
* Pirates starters for the three-game exhibition-season opening series are Charlie Morton, Kevin Correia, and Bryan Morris. The Rays are starting David Price, James Shields and Jeff Niemann.
DEVELOPING: It's been a foggy morning in Port Charlotte as the Rays head out on the field for the third full-squad workout of the spring, with AL Cy Young runner-up David Price, James Shields and reliever Kyle Farnsworth among those scheduled to throw batting practice.
RHP Wade Davis said he will face hitters for the first time this spring on Thursday, having opted for a Monday bullpen session rather than throwing BP with others in his group on Tuesday, and expects to make his exhibition debut next Tuesday.
LHP David Price said he was honored to start Saturday's exhibition opener, and hadn't thought much about the April 1 regular season opener, which he seems very much in line for.
