Lobaton, McGee called up; Jaso on DL
UPDATE, 5:04: The plan to use Lobaton, he'll start Saturday for sure Maddon said, though Jaso is supposedly only going to be out for two weeks. McGee, who was on the opening day roster, will also get his chances, and Maddon indicated he may be sticking around longer than just the three or four days until Cobb is promoted.
Also, Maddon said they had not decided whether Hellickson will start Monday and Cobb Tuesday or the other way around, that Wade Davis (on the DL with a forearm strain) was feeling much better and that they expect Johnny Damon (brusied left hand) to be in the lineup on Friday. 3B Evan Longoria was late to the workout due to a flight delay after attending the ESPY's last night in LA, four others were excused - RHP James Shields and OF Matt Joyce (who were at the All-Star Game) and RHPs Juan Cruz and Joel Peralta (who went home to the Dominican Republic).
Maddon addressed the team for nearly 30 minutes before the workout, focusing on areas they need to improve (offense, baserunning, pitching) and to cut down on mental errors.
DEVELOPING: The Rays have called up C Jose Lobaton and LHP Jake McGee and put C John Jaso on the 15-day DL with a right oblique strain. The Rays were at 24 players during the break. One player, presumably a pitcher, will have to go to make room for Alex Cobb to be called up to start, likely Tuesday.
