Longoria bruised, but appears okay after being hit
UPDATE, 11:29: Longoria said he was sore but okay after the game, and the Rays said he sustained only a bruise as the ball hit the "meaty part" above his elbow. He may be too sore to play on Sunday however.
"We just think it's going to be sore (Sunday),'' manager Joe Maddon said. "It's one of those good old contusions that just swells up a little bit and there's a couple stitchmarks from the baseball on his arm, I think he'll be fine.''
Longoria said he could have stayed in the game had it been closer but wanted to get his arm iced. "He got me pretty good,'' he said. "But it feels okay right now.''
NEWS: Rays 3B Evan Longoria left Saturday's game shortly after being hit on the left elbow by a pitch from Hayden Penn.
Longoria appeared to be in considerable pain, but was attended to at first by trainer Paul Harker and initially stayed in. But after pinch-hitter Andy Sonnanstine struck out and Jason Bartlett doubled Longoria to third, he came out and was replaced by Reid Brignac.
