Longoria, Crawford lead Rays stars
Rays 3B Evan Longoria continues to lead all third baseman in voting for the AL team in the July 13 All-Star game, with a hefty margin over Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez, 1,403,566 to 956,419. Longoria has the third most votes overall, trailing only Twins C Joe Mauer (the overall leader at 1,886,188) and Yankees SS Derek Jeter.
Rays LF Carl Crawford would also be voted in as a starter at this point, ranking third among AL outfielders with 806,202 votes. Ahead of him are Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki (918,730) and Texas' Nelson Cruz (809,902); behind him are Texas' (and former Rays prospect) Josh Hamilton (697,993), New York's Nick Swisher (587,977) and Los Angeles' Torii Hunter (575,044).
Among other Rays, 1B Carlos Pena, 2B Ben Zobrist and SS Jason Bartlett are all distant fifths at their positions.
