Longoria guesstimate: 6-8 weeks

UPDATE, 2:54: Still nothing official or updated from Rays.

Longoria did post this message on his Twitter account:
Looking forward to getting healthy and being back on the field ASAP. Thanks for all the support, #GoRays!

Here is more from what Friedman said earlier, where he confirmed it was a "hamstring/knee" issue:

"We're going to see how he's doing today. It's one of those situations where if there is improvement day over day then we probably will not DL him. If there is not improvement and we feel confident it will take 11 or 12 or more days then we probably will. But he’s a guy if he’s going to be out a week then we’ll just play short for that period of time. But it’s really premature to say anything right now until we get a feel for how he feels today when he shows up. We’re not anticipating making a move today pre-game.’’

Friedman said at around noon Longoria had not yet gone for an MRI and they weren't certain that he would: "We'll see how he feels when he comes (in) and look at swelling and see where we are.''

Friedman did also note, "He’s been a very good healer over time.  He’s come back from things a little faster than we’ve anticipated in the past. So that factors in as well. But we’ll see what happens.’’

UPDATE, 12:37: Rays executive VP Andrew Friedman said it was "premature" to say how Longoria would be out and they would see how he felt when he reported to Tropicana Field today to make their move, and that it was not automatic Longoria would go on the DL. If he does and they make an internal move, the most likely choices are Reid Brignac (with Sean Rodriguez potentially moving to third) or Will Rhymes.

BREAKING: Nothing official yet from the Rays but the Times has learned Evan Longoria's issue is related to his hamstring, at the back of his left knee, and the guesstimate is that he'll be out 6-8 weeks.

The Rays are still sorting through options to replace Longoria and may not have a roster move today.
