Rays third baseman Evan Longoria (hand bruise) said he felt "great" after going through batting practice and fielding drills today, and hopes to be back in the lineup in the next few days.

Longoria, out since getting hit in the right hand with a RHP Matt Bush pitch Mar. 1, will see how it feels tommorrow and take live batting practice from LHP Matt Moore.

"It was good, yesterday I got to push it a little bit more than I expected, and everything felt great this morning," Longoria said. "The important thing is to see if there's residual the next day. Yesterday I didn't have any, I don't anticipate any tommorrow. I'm looking forward to getting out there."

Longoria points out he's only missed a week or so, with several weeks left in spring training.

"It's only been, what, five-six days, but it always seems like eternity," Longoria said. "I'm really looking forward to getting back out there. Fortunately we have alot of time left. The good thing is I didn't have to wait 2-3 weeks and I'm not in a situation where I have to rush to try to get ready. We have plenty of time."

*INF Sean Rodriguez (left index finger sprain) was encouraged after getting x-rays and seeing a hand specialist in St. Petersburg, saying while his finger is swollen and it's a "real bad sprain" around the knuckle, he should be playing in 2-3 days.

"When I talked to the hand doctor, he said it's all pain tolerance," Rodriguez said. "I said, 'In that case, I'm good.'"
