Longoria "definitely' out through weekend
UPDATE, 6:05: Maddon said Longoria is out through the weekend, and it could be the middle of next week before he returns to the lineup. Maddon isn't overly concerned, saying it's a "moderate" strain, but they will keep an eye on it and re-evaluate Longoria Monday.
UPDATE, 5:05: Rays 3B Evan Longoria is likely out through the weekend due to strained left quad. He was hurt Thursday in NY turning a double play.
DEVELOPING: Evan Longoria is not in the Rays lineup tonight.
Manager Joe Maddon said last week he was looking for a day to give Longoria off, and apparently settled on today. Sean Rodriguez is at third base as the Rays go heavy with righthanders against Seattle lefty Jason Vargas.
Longoria has been out of the lineup only one other time this season, rested for the May 23 game in Houston.
