Look familiar? Niemann, Davis set to return

UPDATE, 6:55: Pitching coach Jim Hickey said Davis + Niemann did "extremely well" in sim game, will rejoin rotation next week barring "some very unforeseen circumstances."Davis will start Tuesday and Niemann Wednesday. Both threw all pitches and at "pretty much top effort," Hickey said, with no issues.

That's Jeff Niemann (left) on the mound today at the Oakland Coliseum throwing, along with Wade Davis, in a simulated game this afternoon, the final hurdle for both to come off the DL (shoulder strain) and rejoin the rotation next week.

It appeared to have gone well, with both looking pretty much like they do when pitching in regular games. The plan was for Niemann to get a little extra work (60 pitches as opposed to 45) since Davis is expected to pitch first, on Tuesday in Anaheim, and Niemann the following day.
