Maddon ejected in sixth inning

Rays manager Joe Maddon was ejected from Thursday's game with the White Sox in the sixth inning.Maddon had a spirited argument with home plate umpire Brian Gorman after Jermaine Dye was allowed to resume his at-bat following a play in which he Dye appeared to ground out to third (but both he and White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen argued the ball was fouled off his left foot).

Dye followed up with a single, and the White Sox loaded the bases with one out before RHP Jeff Niemann brilliantly got out of the jam.

It was the 10th ejection of Maddon's career, which actually had him pass ex-Rays manager Lou Piniella (nine) on the club's all-time ejection list.
