Joe Maddon gets to bring his six-man coaching staff to the All-Star game, and he also gets to pick two managers to serve as the official coaches for the AL team.

Those choices were announced today, and Maddon opted against some of the league's higher profile managers and made two somewhat unconventional selections - chosing first-year Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu and second-year Royals manager Trey Hillman.

NL manager Charlie Manuel, in contrast, named St. Louis' Tony La Russa and Los Angeles' Joe Torre to his staff.

The six coaches from the Rays staff joining Maddon will be Tom Foley, Steve Henderson, George Hendrick, Jim Hickey, Dave Martinez and Bobby Ramos.

MLB selected Blue Jays head trainer George Poulis and Oakland Athletics head athletic trainer Steve Sayles to complete the AL staff.
