Pat Burrell clears waivers
Pat Burrell cleared waivers at 1 p.m. today and is now a free agent.
Burrell, who signed a two-year $16 million deal with the Rays in January 2009, was designated for assignment by Tampa Bay on Saturday.
He can now sign with any team for about $300,000 (a pro-rated share of the minimum), with the Rays paying the remaining $6.49 million on his $9 million contract.
