Pena, Damon of interest to Yankees
The Yankees' search for a designated hitter may be of interest to the Rays.
Among the players they have reached out to are Carlos Pena, who is a possibility to return to the Rays, and Johnny Damon, who the Rays let go and replaced with Luke Scott.
Pena told MLB Network Radio on Sunday that the Yankees have contacted him but he continues to explore options including first base openings. The Rays and Indians are among the teams still looking for a first baseman.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reported on Twitter that the Yankees "have talked to Damon about possibly DHing.'' Damon spent four seasons with the Yankees before moving to the Tigers in 2010 and the Rays in 2011.
