Police beef up Trop security for extra fans
Police have more officers working Tropicana Field tonight, but not because of the record ejections at the last two home games of the ALCS, police said.
Spokesman Bill Proffitt wouldn't detail how many more officers are working tonight because of security concerns. But he said they have more security and the help of Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies to handle extra fans.
The Rays decided to sell seats that had previously been covered by blue tarps to accommodate more fans. The change made 5,762 more seats available.
"This could be the game that clinches the Series, so I think knowing that’s a possibility makes this a more important game, which heightens security a little bit," Proffitt said.
