Postgame news: Riggans to DL
After Monday’s game, the Rays placed C Shawn Riggans on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow tendinitis and selected the contract of journeyman C Raul Casanova from Triple-A Durham to replace him.
The Rays recalled Riggans last Thursday when backup Josh Paul landed on the DL with a left elbow strain, but at the time Riggans was just coming off the DL at
Durham
with a right elbow bruise.
To clear room on the 40-man roster for Casanova, the team designated LHP Chris Seddon for assignment.
