Price named 1 of 3 finalists for AL Cy Young award

UPDATE, 7:10: Price said he is getting increasingly excited about winning the award as it gets closer. As for the finalist field: "Those are three great names. Any time you're in there with Verlander and Weaver, guys like that, that's a good group to be a part of because those are guys that make a push to win this award every year.''

BREAKING: Rays LHP David Price, as expected, was named one of three finalists for the AL Cy Young Award.

The bigger question is whether he is on top when the Award announced next Wednesday.

The other finalists are Detroit's Justin Verlander and Los Angeles' Jered Weaver.

Price led the AL, and was second in the majors, with a 2.56 ERA and shared the AL lead at 20 wins with Weaver.

Rays closer Fernando Rodney is expected to get some votes and could finish in the top 5. MLB Network analyst Harold Reynolds said Rodney deserved to be a finalist ahead of Verlander.
