Price to skip Saturday start due to shoulder soreness, expected to face Yankees
Update 5:43 p.m. Price said it caught him off guard when he felt soreness in his left Monday, the day after his last start. After all, he had never experienced that before.
"I didn't know what was going on," he said.
But Price and the Rays were proactive on the issue, and the Cy Young candidate has since been relieved to have felt better, and expects to only miss one start (Saturday). "I do believe it is fine," he said.
UPDATE, 4:15: Price and Rays exec VP Andrew Friedman both say this is precautionary and they ezxpect him to miss only one start, and retrn next weekend against the Yankees.. "We feel confident it is not a major situation," Friedman said. Price didn't feel anything unusual during his last start, but felt a little more soreness in the aftermath of Sunday"s game. "That's the first shoulder soreness I've ever really had in my life so we were going to be very cautious," Price said. BREAKING: The Rays have announced thet LHP David Price will skip his Saturday start due to "general soreness" in his shoulder. Chris Archer will start in his place. More to come later.
