Price wins Players Choice Award

It's not the Cy Young Award, but Rays lefty David Price is the Players Choice as the AL's Outstanding Pitcher. Price won the award that is voted on by his peers in coordination with the players union.

Price remains hopeful of winning the Cy Young award, which will be announced next month, but said being voted this award by the others players "makes it a little more special. ... That means a lot more than some sports writer or sports analyst. The guys that I'm playing with, they feel I deserve that this award so that does mean a lot to me.''

Price said he considers this award almost as meaningful - "It's pretty close" - as the more prestigious Cy Young Award and "definitely would like to have that one, too.''

Price said he was surprised to win the Players Choice award ahead of the other finalists, New York's CC Sabathia and Seattle's Felix Hernandez. And, for what it's worth, he voted for Sabathia.
