Prospects McGee, Anderson promoted to Triple-A

Two players with a good chance to be part of the Rays future moved a step closer this week, as LHP Jake McGee and 1B/OF Leslie Anderson were promoted from Double-A Montgomery to Triple-A Durham.

McGee, an elite prospect before July 2008 Tommy John surgery, has been impressive in his comeback, and was moved up after going 3-7, 3.57 in 19 starts for the Biscuits with 100 strikeouts in 88 1/3 innings.

Anderson, a Cuban defector signed during spring training, hit .304 with six homers and 25 RBIs in 48 games with a .382 on-base percentage. Before that, he hit .262-3-11 in 21 games for Class A Charlotte.

Both are on the 40-man roster and Anderson, in particular, is a candidate for a September call-up.
